Notes
There are four white trees deep in the woods of Sleepy Hollow. Only some can see them. They remain ghosts of the woodlands and they shroud themselves in silence, pure and true; and with terror, bone-deep and crushing. They are not a metaphor: they are a gateway. And what's coming through is a burden only the Witnesses may bear. Though should they falter, we are all doomed– to death, to plague, to war, and to hunger. So let us hope that they remain strong.
