Another offering in the "Celebrating Vinyl" series with a look at Pacific Jazz Records, founded in 1952 by record producer Richard Bock and drummer Roy Harte. The label gamely took advantage of the popularity of the new "west coast sound" and recorded many of artists who exemplified the elemental body of the jazz sub-genre; easy flowing, lyrical, and yes - cool. It was considered by many to be the antithesis of bop, and the sound remains ever so popular to this day.
