I'm definitely on the sympathetic side towards Unknown/Evil-Saeran. Yes, he does very bad things in some of the story lines, but only because he's been subjected to horrific abuse, forcible drugging, and brainwashing for years. Given how fractured his mind is, and given how sweet we know he was before V abandoned him and Rika got her claws in him, in addition to the breakthroughs we see him achieve in his own story and the secret ending, I think even the evil side of him is sympathetic and calling out for help. This is my interpretation of his desperation.
